Why is it helpful to think about pet nails when selecting certain delicate floor finishes?

Pets don’t know what “expensive flooring” means. They run, slide, chase, and tap their nails everywhere. Soft woods, high-gloss laminates or very delicate surfaces can scratch quickly under tiny claws.

If you have or plan to have pets, it’s worth asking, “How will this floor look after a few years of zoomies?” More durable finishes, matte textures, or slightly patterned surfaces can hide or resist marks better.

You can’t stop pets from living their life, but you can choose a floor that doesn’t age badly from normal pet behaviour.
